Every visitor to the United States must have a passport that is valid for six months beyond the date of departure. No visa is required for citizens of a country that has a visa waiver agreement with the United States. However, an "Electronic Travel Authorization" (ESTA) is required (see below).

Countries with visa waiver agreements include: Canada, France, most European Union countries, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand

WARNING: Enhanced Security Requirements for entry into the United States effective 8th September 2010
An "Electronic Travel Authorization" is required for entry into the USA for travelers under the "Visa Waiver" program.
All eligible travelers who wish to travel under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for authorization in advance using the electronic process. A fee of US$14 applies, payable on Credit Card.
In order to travel on Air Tahiti Nui services to the USA, you must present a printed copy of your electronic "Travel Authorization" when you check in for your flight.

IMPORTANT – PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS:

Travelers who utilize the Visa Waiver Program must present Passports conforming to the criteria below. Citizens of countries and other persons ineligible under the Visa Waiver program require a tourist visa good for 90 days that can be obtained from the nearest U.S. consulate.

(a) For nationals included in the Visa Waiver Program, passports must be valid for at least 90 days from date of entry.

Machine-readable passports issued between 26 October 2005 and 25 October 2006 require a digital photograph printed on the data page or an integrated chip with information from the data page. Machine-readable passports issued on or after 26 October 2006 will require an integrated chip with information from the data page (e-passport).

As Entry Requirements and Customs Regulations are subject to change without notice, always check with your travel arranger and/or the proper authorities before traveling internationally. It is the responsibility of each passenger to carry the proper travel documentation and to meet the entry conditions of each country on their itinerary.
